This Weekend in Austin, Texas - July 31 - August 2 2026
Austin doesn't do quiet weekends, and this one is no exception. Between a two-decade-old lakeside tradition, rooftop live music, a pickle competition (yes, really), a hands-on craft class, and a night at the ballpark, there's a version of this weekend for whoever you're bringing along. Here's our roundup of what we're loving.
Latino Moonlight Serenades' 20th Anniversary
Friday, July 31 | 6:15 PM – 9:00 PM
Twenty years in, this one is still one of the most singular ways to spend a Friday night in Austin. Paddle out by kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard to a quiet cove on Lady Bird Lake, where local musicians perform live Latino serenades under the full moon while the city skyline glows behind you. It's romantic, it's a little bit magical, and it's the kind of thing that reminds you why people fall for this city in the first place.
Summer Music Series at Fairmont Austin
Friday, July 31 & Saturday, August 1 | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Rules & Regs at the Fairmont transforms into a full-on summer rooftop for this one, with live Latin bossa nova, instrumental duos, and curated DJ sets layered over two nights. Pair it with coastal Mexican flavors and vibrant cocktails while the Austin skyline does its thing in the background. Good for a date night, good for a girls' night, good for just showing up solo and seeing who you meet.
Pickle-Palooza
Saturday, August 1 | 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Zilker Brewing Co. teams up with la Barbecue for an afternoon built entirely around one very specific obsession: pickles. Sample unique pickle creations from competitors like The Grackle, Liberty Bar, Canje, Distant Relatives, and more, then cast your vote to help crown this year's Pickle-Palooza Champion. It's playful, it's outdoors, and it's the kind of only-in-Austin event that makes for a genuinely fun Saturday afternoon.
Stained Glass Workshop at Austin Beerworks
Sunday, August 2 | 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
For the crafters in the crowd, this one is worth carving out your Sunday afternoon. Design and assemble your very own stained glass mushroom suncatcher or garden stake during a comprehensive four-hour, beginner-friendly class at Austin Beerworks. No experience needed, just a seat, a few hours, and a piece of art you actually made yourself by the end of it.
Reno Aces at Round Rock Express
Sunday, August 2 | 6:00 PM
Cap the weekend off with a Triple-A baseball game at Dell Diamond, where the Round Rock Express take on the Reno Aces. Classic ballpark fun, great food, and lively summer energy right in the heart of Texas. A great way to close out the weekend before Monday comes calling.
Why I Do This Every Week
We work with buyers and sellers across Westlake, Tarrytown, Rollingwood, Pemberton Heights, and Spanish Oaks, and one of the most common questions we get from people relocating to Austin is some version of: "What's it actually like to live there?" Our answer is always the same, it's weekends like this one. It's a moonlit paddle on a Friday, rooftop bossa nova the next night, a pickle competition on Saturday afternoon, and a ballgame to close out Sunday. Austin rewards the people who show up for it. We hope you get out there this weekend.
